Group lessons are generally held every month and a half in the fall and spring semesters in place of the private lesson for that week. The primary goal of group lessons is to make learning piano fun! Playing for others helps to boost the morale of the student, gives them a sense of accomplishment in their playing, and helps prepare them for recitals.

For kids, a typical group lesson lasts about an hour and a half and takes place at my home studio. During this time, the students perform their piece(s). Afterwards, we study a composer or instrument, then we play a musical game or watch a music related video. The student gets a surprise reward at the end of the group lesson, and the atmosphere is fun and educational.

Performance groups are also held for the teenagers and adult students. These typically last about two and a half hours and take place at either my house or another student's house. Each student plays their piece(s), and brings a dish to share for our potluck. Afterwards, we listen to a piece of music and learn about a composer or other musical topic.
